2008 Farm Bill Passed

Money set aside to help the infrastructure needed to feed this country has been made.  At the same time, our tax dollars have been included in this bill to insure that there is a new funding source for non profit organizations to take this same land and control the resource development of that land.  We must watch carefully, as government subsidized free enterprise becomes more government.

Montana Farmers depending on water rely on laws created in 1866 that protect "right of ways" for irrigation ditches.  RS 2477 is a congressional law that provides a legal access to farmers to maintain the water rights that are essential. Farming depends on the many resources we have here in Montana.  Management of water supplies, is the life line of the farming industry.  Many of the water supplies here in Montana have specific rights that are associated with original homesteads.  Montana Multiple Use Association is working to insure that the right to use these waters are not infringed upon by unjustified actions taken by Federal and State agencies.
